Guidelines for Reading Seat Management at the National Taiwan Normal University Library
Passed in the Library Affairs Meeting on May 20, 2013
National Taiwan Normal University Library (hereafter “the Library”) has established these Guidelines to protect patrons' right to access reading spaces and equipment resources in the library fairly, and prevent patrons from occupying seats, providing a guide for patrons and rules for the library management to enforce.
Reading seats refer to seating in the reading areas on each floor, the SMILE section, and the General Reading Room.
Patrons who need to leave temporarily while using a reading area of the library should not leave for more than 30 minutes. Upon leaving, readers should take all personal belongings with them and must not occupy seats to reserve them. The Library is not responsible for any items left in reading areas.
If instances of patrons reserving seats are reported by other patrons or discovered by librarians, the Library may temporarily confiscate the items and leave a vacancy notice in their place, freeing up the seat for other patrons.
Owners of confiscated items can retrieve their items with the vacancy notice and a valid ID at the circulation desk. Items must be retrieved in person.
These Guidelines were implemented upon approval in the Library Affairs Meeting. The same shall apply to all subsequent amendments.
