Guidelines for High School Students to Apply For Library Access and Reading Privileges

Passed by the 1st Library Committee Meeting for the 34th academic year on October 25, 2018

I. The National Taiwan Normal University Library (hereinafter referred to as the Library) has established the National Taiwan Normal University Library Guidelines for High School Students to Apply For Library Access and Reading Privileges (hereinafter referred to as these Guidelines) to help high school and first to third-year students at five-year junior colleges access the Library’s books and periodicals.

II. Eligibility:

  1. Current high school students or first- to third-year five year junior college students participating in a research project conducted by the University’s full-time faculty.
  2. High school students who have been admitted to the University through an application process or with a recommendation.
  3. High school students enrolled in the University’s affiliated high school.
  4. High school students who have applied to his program.

III. Application times: Monday through Friday: 9:00–17:00.

IV. Application method:

  1. Current high school students or first- to third-year five year junior college students participating in a research project conducted by the University’s full-time faculty should have a full-time University faculty member apply to the Library’s Department of Circulation for library access on their behalf.
  2. High school students who have been admitted to the University through an application process or with a recommendation should apply for Library access using their university freshmen admissions letter, or the admissions notification letter issued to students who have been admitted based on a recommendation.
  3. High school students enrolled in the University’s affiliated high school should apply for Library access using their student ID card.
  4. Other high school students directly applying for Library access should have their high school provide an application letter to the Library’s Department of Circulation, stating the applying student’s name, class, purpose for accessing the Library, access duration, and contact methods.
  5. Library access shall be applied for and approved three days in advance by the Library. The Library will not entertain any applications for immediate access, nor will the Library grant initial access on the condition that these persons later submit formal applications.

V. Methods for accessing and browsing the Library:

  1. Before accessing the Library, current high school students or first- to third-year five year junior college students are required to provide their student ID cards and Library access approval documents to register as off-campus visitors accessing the Library.
  2. These students are only allowed to look up information in the Library, and not study in the Library.
  3. They shall follow all Library rules while accessing the Library. Any violations of these rules shall be handled pursuant to the National Taiwan Normal University Library Regulations on Rule Violations.

VI. These Guidelines have been implemented after approval by the Library Committee Meeting. The same shall apply to all subsequent amendments.
